Our Environmental Commitment

We make every effort to be an environmentally responsible business and have implemented the following actions, as our contribution to minimising our footprint on the environment.

• For every cremation of a pet, which we arrange, we pay a carbon-offset fee. One tree is planted in memory of the pet to offset the emissions from the cremators.
• We take our obsolete computer equipment to ByteBack, which is run by Sustainability Victoria, where it is broken down into components and recycled.
• All paper used in the practice is recycled and our printer cartridges are refilled by Cartridge World. All cartons and paper products are sorted for recycling by the Council.
• We take donated bedding, collars and leads to the Blue Cross Society and Save-A-Dog Scheme, where it is recycled and used, to ensure stray pets are comfortable.
• We maintain a welfare box of ‘close to expiry’ medications and donated medications from deceased pets. These drugs are used for wildlife care or donated to Save-A-Dog Scheme or Vets Beyond Borders.
• We use an EPA registered business to dispose of all sharps, expired drugs and biological waste, such as empty vaccine containers. We take great care to ensure that no biological material, dangerous sharps or drug containers are disposed of in the general rubbish.
• Our veterinary wholesaler, Provet Victoria Pty Ltd, has a strong environmental policy, which complements our environmental commitment. The delivery trucks use diesel only, plastic from dog food wrappers is used as filler for packing and cartons are recycled in the factory. Esky’s that contain cold packed drugs and vaccines are zip-locked recyclables, as opposed to the Styrofoam type.
